Back Mountain Dental / James C. DeFinnis D.M.D. - Sedation Dentist Assists to Eliminate Pain
(I will never share your email or name with anyone)
What do you think of when you hear the word "dentist"? Many of us instantly visualize pain! That is either because they had experienced pain when they visited a dentist when they were younger, heard someone tell a story about a painful dental visit, watched a film with a dentist character who wasn't nice or have had a root canal in the past.
Aches and pains are a normal part of some dental treatments. Mostly, they are the things like having a root canal done or getting implants which are the first step twoard a bridge or crown. And most times, the way a patient could look forward to steering clear of pain in the dental chair was by having the dentist fill up a large syringe with a dose of novacaine. Even thinking about that novacaine shot can cause some people's blood pressure to go up.
But that doesn't have to be the way it is any longer, especially with a Wilkes-Barre sedation dentist. Sedation dentistry comes in two forms. If you don't mind a needle, that is one option. Or you can take a pill. After you take the treatment, you will simply feel like you want to go to sleep. But you should know that the needle basically knocks you all the way out. That means you will still understand what is going on if you take the pill. You very well won't remember a thing once it's over, but while you're in the chair, you'll be lucid. On the other hand, the needle sedation can actually put you to sleep. Most dentists will tell you that that is extreme. You don't need to be put out for many types of dental procedures.
The weird thing is, a Wilkes-Barre dentist prefers to use sedation because it makes his job easier. It permits the dentist to do more of the work while you are sedated and that way you don't have to go back to the office as many times.
The treatments the dentist provides that make people cringe, such as bridges and crowns, veneer application, orthodontics, root canal, tooth extraction and more can be a lot easier than you ever imagined before.
Additionally, once you come out of the fog you were put in by the sedation, you will be very relaxed. I have been told that many folks who get dental treatments from a Wilkes-Barre sedation dentist have gone out later with friends the very evening they went home. That's hard to believe, but it's true.
