Back Mountain Dental / James C. DeFinnis D.M.D. - Veneers Hide Flaws
(I will never share your email or name with anyone)
If you have problems with your teeth, it doesn't mean you have neglected them. Sometimes, teeth get worn because of daily habits. Coffee and other caffeine-laced drinks are major culprits. Even tea would turn your teeth yellow. Even if you brush, it's not going to help. You can try whitening but even that won't be able to take away the yellow color completely. Your dentist would be tempted to suggest a set of veneers — or porcelain veneers, as they are also called.
Veneers have many functions, not only that of covering up crooked teeth. They are also excellent substitutes for braces. They can also help in closing gaps between the teeth and are able to modify your teeth in terms of cosmetic dentistry. Wilkes-Barre dental veneers are offered in two types. The first is extremely thin, as thin as a contact lens and the normal sized one is also available. The one we use for you depends on your condition to enable us to make sure we give you the right one.
Installing veneers in not quick job. There is more to it that just covering your teeth. Initially, we need to remove some of your tooth matter by filing it away. This is done so there is plenty of room for the veneers. Some gum tissue would also probably be taken away so that when you smile, not too much of your gum can be seen. We are very careful when preparing your teeth. Only the minimum amount of natural tooth matter is removed by the Wilkes-Barre dentist. After the procedure, your real teeth will be as strong as ever. The good thing is the Wilkes-Barre veneers can easily be taken out. It is up to you when you want to remove them.
Under normal circumstances, having veneers requires two appointments with the dentist. First of all, we need to look at the size and shape of your teeth. Then your teeth set up by filing and cutting before we give you some temporary veneers to see how they fit. It enables you to see how the veneers fit and give your input to size, color and shape. Once all your details are known, we inform the experts in the lab who are responsible for actually creating the veneers. Then comes your second appointment so you can be fitted out with the permanent veneers.
It's funny, but many dentists tell me that their patients wouldn't smile until their teeth were covered with veneers. Only a dentist would truly understand. Most wouldn't realize that many people don't smile because of their teeth. With a set of veneers, their personality changes and they become much more extroverted and confident. Now, there is nothing to stop them from smiling.
